How To Turn Your Love For Writing into a Profession

Do you love writing and want to make a profession out this hobby? If yes, here's a blog that will help you transform your passion for writing into profession by exploring different ways to make money from your hobby.

When you have a passion for writing then there is nothing that should stop you from doing it all the time. But I’m sure some of you are thinking that you don’t have time or it’s not worth your time if it doesn’t pay and you could be earning instead.

Well you can make money from writing and if you do it really well and you know your stuff or know how to research then there is no reason that you can’t make some money from writing or even a full-time income. In this article I am going to share with you a few ways that you can make some money from your hobby.

1. Blogging

As you might be able to tell blogging is my preferred method of writing to make money and it means I get to write about something I love and get a second income from it. When you start your own blog however it is not all about writing there are other things you have to do to make it successful as well.

You have to do promote your content, do little bit SEO & even advertise on social media sites. There are number of ways to monetize your blog. My favorite way is Google AdSense.

2. Freelancing

There are a couple of ways that you can go about freelancing. The quickest and easiest way to get started is to go to one of the large freelance websites like and and sign up for them. As soon as you have you can start bidding on writing projects.

You tell the person who wants the job done what your skills are and how much you are willing to do the job for and then you hope that they pick you over the other bidders. The problem with this is there are a lot of people to compete against but if you offer the right prices and you show that you can write with skill then you will be able to get some work pretty quickly.

The second way of going about it is to make your own freelancing website and show off your writing skills there. As you might have guessed this method requires you to do all the stuff that goes with a website project like marketing and website design so it will take you some time to get started. Also you have to establish your writing credentials on your own (without doing work for others) before anyone will hire you.

The advantage is that once you are established you will be able to charge higher prices because you will have more credibility but it will be a while before you will see any returns.

3. Pay Per Post

Now if you just want to keep your love of writing pure and not get into all of the other things that go with blogging then you can get paid to write blog posts on other people’s blogs. It’s quite a simple process really, there are sites such as where you go and enter your details and how much you think you deserve to get paid to write posts for other people.

Then people will search the available candidates and if they like what they see in you then they will choose you to write for them. It would definitely help you to have some previous experience in writing like a blog or writing online somewhere but it isn’t essential.

4. Hubpages is a great website where you can write about any topic that you see fit and submit it to their site. This creates something called a hub which is like a mini website with just content on it. This isn’t going to make you money instantly there are a few things you will have to do yourself.

Firstly I would recommend doing a bit of research on a topic that you think people are going to be searching for that doesn’t have high competition.

When you have an idea you can check out roughly how much competition in the search engines that keyword has by using different keyword tools. If it has a small amount of competition then you write about it, make your hub and then you need to advertise things on your hub.

There are three options open to you to make money on your hub. You can put up Adsense ads, you can put up EBay and Amazon modules or you can promote affiliate products on those pages.

5. Words Of Worth is one of many websites that is looking for people to take on medium to longer term writing jobs. All that they ask is that you have an excellent grasp of English and that you have an internet connection.

You won’t be able to make money instantly from this however because generally they tell you to expect a few months wait to get started but once you are going this is one way to get a regular income from writing online.

These are just a few of the places online that you can make money from your writing skills and hopefully this article has shown you that you can follow your dreams of earning money from home doing something you love. Can you think of any other ways or places that you can make money writing online? Have you tried these and how well did they work?
